Short story: We saw the house, we loved the house... Sales guy seemed nice (they always do). After we went all in, he disappeared. Wouldn't work with us with the little changes and upgrades we required... nothing! Just dodged us until the end... Either way... we really wanted the house so we didnt let that bother us too much. We did our initial walkthrough and found some irregularities and small... Read more

Less the 3 years ago we bought a beautiful home built by DR Horton, to find that our beautiful home was just a start of a hellish nightmare. It first started when we moved in and found out the paint ( what little they used ) was recalled and our walls looked like a patched quilt, they refused to come and repaint ( meanwhile the two empty homes on both sides of us got a new paint job. Our next... Read more

I had an independent company come out and do an air flow test of my home. After a thorough test of my home the company found that I am getting roughly 1/2 the amount of fresh air into my home via infiltration; I should be getting a minimum of 71cfm but I'm only getting 40cfm. I am going to have the Honeywell fresh air system installed at my expense because the builder refuses too. The cost to... Read more

We built our home in 1998, absolutely stunning home. Little did we know it was built incredibly poorly!!!! Pipes burst in the master bathroom due to poor workmanship! The plumber used the wrong glue on all of the pipe joints! Master bathroom two person tub had two 2x4's sitting under it stacked on each other, not nailed down, just under the center! Soooo lucky it never broke with both of us and... Read more

My experience with DHI Horton has been nothing but a nightmare. They lie and follow through with nothing. After closing, we have found numerous things that the builders took short cuts on. Of course, the "one year warranty" doesn't cover that. Or have you ever heard of a builder not wiring cable because they have a deal with the cable companies because they are just going to pull the wires out.... Read more

TO: DR Horton Cc: Ceri Linge Regarding my so called foundation. The concrete was above around the house and when weeding, it would knock the concrete down and soil would fall down also, was not enough sand soil to support the foundation. I did keep seeping hose around the foundation and kept it up, had to buy a new once a month as the yard guys with gas powered *** eater would destroy them after... Read more

D. R. Horton built my new Energy Star Certified home and chose to eliminate key elements of the system. After multiple requests they have not supplied me with an Energy Star report on my home. I have found that they secretly eliminate Energy Star key elements like properly sized HVAC system and they have eliminated the fresh air inlet which exchanges the stale air in a "tightly sealed" home. ... On May 16, 2015 at approximately 10:00am my girlfriend was waiting for the sales to open so she could stake a claim on lot #301 when all of the sudden some one just jumped in and staked their claim! She had been waiting since Friday night to get their first and she was in her car and the sales rep chose the other claim jumper! That's cheating!! Add comment
